Wish you could minimize pores, fine lines and acne scars on your skin from the inside out? At Synergy Spa, we recommend PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) in conjunction with microneedling, or what we call the Vampire Facial, if you’re plagued with any of these common skin issues.
Gaining widespread popularity after Kim Kardashian’s spooky Instagram post several years ago, the Vampire Facial uses the healing power of your own blood to repair and rejuvenate skin. It’s an all-natural medical spa service we regularly perform at Synergy Spa of The Guyer Institute in Indianapolis.
Specially trained in the PRP rejuvenation technique, Synergy Spa is one of only a handful of anti-aging providers in Indiana certified to offer the trademarked Vampire Facial along with other Vampire procedures.
“I was just starting to show some signs of aging, and the Vampire Facial was the perfect treatment to restore a healthy glow and remove some of the little lines around my mouth that were bothering me,” says Susan, a Synergy Spa client who received the specialized PRP treatment in under an hour at our med spa.
Combining PRP with Microneedling for Better Results
The non-invasive Vampire Facial works to smooth skin scarred by acne or injury, reduce fine lines that appear as we age, and give clients a more youthful skin tone and improved color.
We obtain the PRP by drawing a small amount of blood from a patient into a sterile tube, then spin the blood using a centrifuge to separate the PRP, which contains a concentration of stem cell growth factors and platelets vital for tissue healing. When injected back into the body, the PRP works to produce new collagen, nerves, tissue and blood vessels, which is essentially your body working to heal what it perceives as an injury.
After applying numbing cream to the treatment area, we use a micro-needling device or fine needles painted with the patient’s own potent PRP to puncture the skin into a pattern of micro-channels just below the top layer of the skin. Combining PRP with microneedling rejuvenates tired skin in two ways:
- PRP increases the production of collagen and elastin to leave skin smoother and more uniform.
- Microneedling allows the collagen-producing PRP to penetrate deeper into the skin.
Ultimately, PRP combined with microneedling stimulates the body to replace its own collagen, the most abundant protein in the body that gives structure to our hair, skin, nails and bones. The loss of collagen production that naturally occurs with aging causes wrinkles and saggy skin.
Vampire Facial: What to Expect
Directly after the facial, we ask patients to keep the PRP on their face for five hours, then rinse with warm water. While some reddening may remain, effects from the Vampire Facial become noticeable right away with tighter skin, a youthful glow and softening of lines and scars. The skin’s appearance continues to improve over the next six to 12 months as new collagen and elastin develops.
Our specially trained staff can perform this procedure on the face, neck or chest to give a natural, youthful radiance to the skin. It’s a great alternative for clients who want to avoid fillers or plastic surgery but seek to restore their aging skin with improved tone, color and texture.
